Meet Our Staff
Three full-time employees work for our emergency management department; Richard Ezell Greg Adams and Elijah Dalton. Elijah divides his time between Emergency Management and his duties as Safety Coordinator for the City.
Durant Emergency Management also relies heavily on it's numerous volunteers. Without the volunteers stepping in to assist with storm spotting, mass immunization point of distributions, initial storm damage assessments and special events the Durant Emergency Management would not be able to provide the level of service that it does for it's citizens. The volunteers have all been through the NWS storm spotter training, they hold an amateur radio license, attended multiple hours of on-line training through FEMA and several have completed the OK-First weather training program.

Richard Ezell says he's most proud of our reputation with our partner departments and agencies for being reliable and available 24/7. 365 days a year to help in any situation.
"One of us is on-call every night and weekend, including holidays. This requires a sacrifice from all staff. We take turns being on-call and the on-call person does not travel over 30 minutes away from Durant for the on-call period in order to be able to respond to an incident within 30 minutes. This means missed out-of-town family functions, dance recitals, ball games, birthdays, holidays at the lake, camping trips, etc. It's quite a commitment and out crew has always been flawless in this regard."
